JEE Main-Advanced and NEET exam postponed till September, see new dates announced

Human Resource Development Minister Dr. Ramesh Pokhriyal Nishank has given information about the National Engineering and Medical Entrance Examinations. He said that keeping in mind the safety of students, it has been decided to postpone JEE and NEET examinations. The JEE-Main exam will be held from September 1 to 6, while the JEE-Advanced exam will be held on September 27 and NEET will be held on September 13.

The Ministry of Education had asked the panel of experts to submit the report after review on Thursday. Under this, the panel suggested to extend the date of examinations in the wake of Corona epidemic. Earlier, the education ministry had fixed the exam date for JEE Main from 18 to 23 July. The exam date of NEET was to be held on 26 July.

The JEE Advance, which is held for admission to Indian Institutes of Technology (IITs), was scheduled to be held on 23 August. Nine lakh children have registered for the JEE examination and 16 lakh children for NEET.

The candidates of JEE Main and NEET exam will be able to make changes in the examination center and city from Saturday. Vineet Joshi, director-general of the National Testing Agency (NTA), informed the students to hold the examination in the late September evening through public notice in September instead of July. Along with this, once again from July 4, online application window will be improved.

According to Joshi, due to the demand of students and parents, the facility of changing the city and examination center in the online application window is being given again. Students participating in the JEE Main and NEET exams can change the city and examination center in their online application form from July 4 to 15 at 11.50 pm, which are free.

However, for any other change in the application, a fee will have to be paid. The JEE Main exam will be conducted in two shifts between September 1 and 6. The first shift will be from 9 am to 12 noon and the second shift will be from 3 pm to 6 pm while the NEET exam will be on September 13 from 2 pm to 5 pm.

More than one million students will participate in the JEE Main September exam while more than 16 lakh students have registered for the NEET exam. At the same time, the top two and a half million students of the JEE Main 2020 merit will qualify for the JEE Advanced exam.
